Power of Attorney Translation With a Notary Seal

Need a notarised power of attorney translation that a bank, land office or court in another country can read? We translate your power of attorney (POA) into the language they ask for. Then a Notary Public registered with the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) notarises the translation.

First, a quick word on signing. A POA lets one person (the donor) allow another person (the attorney) to act for them. When a POA will be used in another country, the donor usually has to sign it in front of a notary. Translation is a separate step, and we can help with both.

A Singapore Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is not the same thing. It is made under Singapore law for a time when a person can no longer decide for themselves. It is signed before a certificate issuer, such as a lawyer or an accredited doctor, and registered with the Office of the Public Guardian. A general POA for use abroad usually goes to a notary instead.

Your POA translation with a notary seal is usually ready in 2–3 working days, and express help in 24 hours is possible. You get a soft copy by email and a hard copy by courier in Singapore, or you can collect it at Suntec Tower One. We send a free quote before you pay.

Who needs it

Who Asks for a Notarised Power of Attorney Translation?

Most people need help translating and notarising a power of attorney because someone far away must act for them. Here are the six cases we see most, with one tip for each.

Most requested

Singapore POA used overseas

You live in Singapore but own land, a bank account or a business back home. The office there may want the POA in its own language, so ask which language before you sign.

Good to know

Foreign POA shown to a Singapore bank

A relative abroad gave you power to manage their account here. The bank will want an English version it can check, and some banks also ask you to use their own POA form.

Good to know

  • Ask for the bank's own form
  • English version needed
  • Bank may see the original

Selling or renting a home abroad

Land offices in places like India, Malaysia and Thailand read every power you give. Make sure the address and lot number in your POA match the title deed.

Good to know

  • Exact property address
  • Local land office rules
  • SAL apostille

Car matters handled for you

Someone may need to transfer or deregister a car on your behalf. If the POA is in another language, LTA will need an English version it can read.

Good to know

Tax letters handled by an agent

A family member or agent may deal with tax matters for you. If the POA is not in English, IRAS may ask for a translation, so send the full POA, not a summary.

Good to know

Inheritance claims in another country

Heirs often send one person to claim a share for the whole family. The POA usually travels with other papers, such as a statement of inheritance, so plan them together.

Good to know

  • Statement of inheritance
  • Death certificate
  • Embassy legalisation

Not sure if the office abroad wants an apostille? Our page on notarised papers for SAL apostille explains that step, and we can add it to your notary-backed POA translation.

Ask About My POA

Foreign POA Formats We Translate and Notarise in Singapore

Each country writes a POA in its own way, and a notarised translation of a foreign POA must keep that shape. If the country is not in the Apostille Convention, you may also need embassy legalisation for non-apostille countries.

India

General or Special POA in Hindi

Stamp paper notes and registration stamps are translated too.

China

Weituoshu (委托书) Authorisation Letter

Often short, but every power listed is translated in full.

Indonesia

Surat Kuasa

We keep the meterai duty stamp note and both signatures.

Malaysia

Surat Kuasa Wakil

Often used for land, so lot and mukim names stay as written.

Thailand

Nangsue Mob Amnat (หนังสือมอบอำนาจ)

Land Department forms keep their form number and ticked boxes.

Vietnam

Giấy Ủy Quyền

We show if it is a simple letter or a notarised contract type.

Japan

Ininjō (委任状)

Hanko seal marks are described in square brackets.

Spain / Latin America

Poder Notarial

A notary deed whose protocol number we copy exactly.

Ukraine

Dovirenist (Довіреність)

Signed before a notary; registry numbers are kept as shown.

Line by line

Clauses We Match Exactly in Your Notarised POA Translation

A POA gives real power, so small slips matter. Every power of attorney translated word for word and notarised by our team is checked on these six parts.

Donor and attorney names

Spelled as in each person's passport, with ID numbers copied digit by digit.

The list of powers

Each power stays on its own line and is never merged or shortened.

Property and account details

Addresses, lot numbers and account numbers match the source exactly.

Start date, end date and revocation

When the power begins, ends or can be taken back stays just as written.

Signature and witness blocks

We show where each person signed and who witnessed the signing.

Notary and stamp notes

Seals, stamps and handwritten notes are described in square brackets.

What gets a POA translation sent back

  • Powers squeezed into a short list instead of full wording
  • The attorney translating the POA for themselves
  • Stamp pages or the notary's page left untranslated

What we do for every POA

  • A trained legal translator works on your POA
  • A SAL-registered Notary Public notarises the translation
  • Names are checked against the passports you send
  • Free correction if the office asks for a change to our wording

Rules for POAs differ by country and by office. Some offices want the donor to sign before a notary, some also want an apostille from SAL, and some want their own form. Please check with the office or a lawyer before signing. We cannot give legal advice on what your POA should say.

From Your Inbox to Signing: Notarised POA Translation Steps

Here is how a notary public translation of your POA moves from your upload to your hands.

Hire Notarized Translator
  1. Step 1: Share Your POA and Where It Goes

Upload a clear scan or photo of every page of the POA. Tell us which country and which office will read it, and which language they want. If the POA is not signed yet, say so. Then we can plan the signing in front of the notary and the translation together, so you do not need to visit us twice.

  2. Step 2: Check Your Free Quote

We reply with a free quote and a clear delivery date. We also tell you if the office may want an apostille or an embassy step after the notary. You can pay by Visa, Mastercard, PayNow or PayLah. Nothing starts until you agree. If time is short, ask about express service, which can deliver in 24 hours.

  3. Step 3: Translate, Sign and Notarise

This is where POA notarisation and translation come together. A legal translator prepares the translation, and a second person checks names, numbers and every power. If the donor still has to sign, they sign before the notary at Suntec Tower One. The notary then notarises the translation. If you asked, we take the set for an apostille at SAL.

  4. Step 4: Soft Copy First, Then Hard Copy

You get a soft copy by email first, so you can check it before anything is posted. The hard copy goes by courier anywhere in Singapore, or you can collect it from our office. Most POA jobs are ready in 2–3 working days. If the office abroad asks us to change our wording, we fix it free of charge.

Bahasa, Thai or Hindi: POA Translations Sealed in Singapore

We have the power of attorney translated and notarised in over 200 languages. Common pairs for POAs are English into Bahasa Indonesia, Malay, Thai, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Hindi and Tamil, and the other way round.

Direction matters. A POA signed in Singapore often goes out in the other country's language. A POA from abroad usually comes in and needs a notarised POA in English. Tell us the direction, and we pick a translator who knows legal words in both languages.

Your Courier Envelope: Translated POA With the Notarial Certificate

Your notarised power of attorney pack is put together in the order offices like to see. Nothing is left loose, and every page is joined.

Each translated POA with its notarial certificate should stay in one piece. Do not remove staples or ribbons, because offices check that the set was not opened. If your papers also need notarised translations that go on to MFA, we plan that step with you.

The translated POA

Every page in the target language, laid out like the original.

Notarial certificate

Signed and sealed by a SAL-registered Notary Public.

Copy of your source POA

Attached so the reader can compare both versions side by side.

Signing record, if done with us

If the donor signed before our notary, that page joins the set.

Free fix if an office asks

If the office abroad wants a change to our translation, we correct it at no cost and send it back fast.

Behind Tricky Power of Attorney Notarisation and Apostille Jobs

These stories show the planning behind power of attorney notarisation when more than one country is involved.

Before You Sign: Doubts About Notarised POA Translation Cleared

Yes. We can translate a POA that is already signed. The notary notarises our translation, not your old signature, so you do not need to sign again. But if the office abroad wanted the donor's signature witnessed by a notary and that was not done, a translation cannot fix it. In that case, you may need to sign a fresh POA.
Ask the office that will use it. Some want a bilingual POA, with both languages side by side, signed once in front of a notary. Others accept an English POA with a notarised translation attached. A bilingual POA can save a step later. If you choose it, we prepare the second language before your signing day.
Often not easily. An LPA is made under Singapore's Mental Capacity Act and registered with the Office of the Public Guardian. Other countries may not accept it, even with a translation. Many people make a separate POA for assets abroad. Please check with a lawyer in that country first. Then we can prepare a notarised translation for a power of attorney that fits.
Yes, for the translation. Send us a clear scan, and we prepare the notarised translation here in Singapore. The signing is a different matter. A donor abroad usually signs before a local notary, or at a Singapore embassy or consulate that offers notarial help. After that, they can send the signed POA to us for translation.
A clear scan of every page is usually enough for the translation. Make sure seals, stamps and handwriting can be read. Some offices abroad want to see the original, or want the translation joined to it. If so, bring or courier the original to us, and we bind the whole set together before the notary seals it.
Yes. Some offices want the POA in their own language, while a bank or lawyer also wants English. We can prepare both translations and attach them to the same notarised set. Tell us early, because the order of pages and the notary's wording change when two languages are involved. Each translation is checked by its own language expert.
Please ask us. When the donor is unwell or cannot travel, a home or hospital visit may be arranged, and we confirm the details in your quote. The notary must be sure the donor understands the POA and signs freely. So the donor should be awake, clear and able to answer simple questions on the day.
LTA works in English. If the POA was made in another language, it usually needs an English translation that LTA can rely on. Our page on translating vehicle papers for LTA explains more. Please send the vehicle number and the owner's ID details, so we can check them against the POA.
The translation itself does not expire. But the POA may have its own end date, and some offices only accept papers signed or notarised in the last few months. Check the office's rules before you order. If your POA is old or the powers have changed, it may be wiser to sign a new one and translate that.
We cannot promise that, because each office makes its own choice. What we can do is follow the office's checklist, match every name and number, and add an apostille if they need one. Your POA translated under notary seal also comes with free correction if the office asks for a change. That is why we ask who will read it first.
